Create new access group

Administrators of tdsaccess can use the configure access group portlet to create new groups of readers. Special types of access groups available in tdsaccess are public visitor, time  attendance and cardlink hotspots. A time profile must be applied to terminals when they are assigned to an access group.

1. Click add button

The access group code will automatically be generated (1).   The left hand side of the screen (unassigned terminal) lists all currently active terminals in tdsaccess grouped by site and zone.  The total number of terminals available is supplied (2).  The right hand side of the screen (assigned terminal) lists all terminals currently assigned to the access group.    

3. Enter description

Enter description (name) of the access group.  

3.1. Check special type

Check on if the access group is for public visitor (for grouping a set of public visitor kiosks together for reporting), time & attendance (for grouping readers that mark people onsite and offsite for clocking time) or for cardlink hotspots (for grouping all cardlink update terminals together to allow these to be automatically assigned to people to enable them to get updates to badges for offline doors).

4. Select terminals to add

In the unassigned (left) section of the form, use keyword search (1) or more options (2) to filter by site and zone to find required terminals.  Check the terminals to add.  Note: terminals can be assigned in more than one step.  

5. Click assign button

The assign button is at the bottom right of the unassigned terminal section.  

6. Select time profile

Select time profile to be applied against these terminals in the new access group.   Most commonly 24/7 is selected allowing people access through the terminals at all times.  Refer to configure time profile chapter of manual for more information.  

7. Click save

Once a time profile is selected the save button will activate.  

8. View assigned terminals

The right hand section of the screen will display all assigned terminals with associated time profile (1).  The total number of assigned terminals will update (2).  These assigned terminals will disappear from the left hand section of the screen and the unassigned terminals total will reduce.  

8.1. Add more terminals

If required the process described above can be repeated as many times as necessary to assign another group of terminals to this same access group.  The time profile will not need to be entered when assigning further terminals.  

8.2. Unassign terminals

Any terminal added by mistake can be selected and the unassign button clicked to remove them from the assigned terminal section.  

9. Click save

Once terminals are assigned click save.  The new access group will appear in the main grid of the configure access group portlet.
